In 1976, Hackbarth and Jameson sold Del Taco to a group of investors. By that time, the company opened a new restaurant every month. In 1973, the company dropped "Casa" from its name and Red-E-Food Systems became Del Taco, Inc. Naugle left the company early in the decade to start Naugles. In 1967, Del Taco introduced their bean and cheese burrito with green or red sauce. That same year, the original Del Taco sun logo was created. In 1966, the trio founded Red-E-Food Systems, Inc., with the idea of franchising the Del Taco brand. Dick Naugle, who installed the kitchen equipment in the Corona store, was impressed by the design and joined Hackbarth and Jameson in the fledgling business. Success of the first restaurant led to two in Barstow, one in Needles, and a fifth restaurant in Corona (the first Del Taco with a drive-through window). Now he’s recovered and feeling ready to get back on stage and to continue his work as music director of mariachi festivals and with educational initiatives he has founded: The José Hernández’s Mariachi Nationals and Summer Institute and the Mariachi Heritage Society.The first Del Taco restaurant was opened by Ed Hackbarth and David Jameson in Yermo, California, on Septem under the name "Casa Del Taco." On the first day of business, Del Taco made $169 ($1,477 in 2021 dollars ). The restaurant soft opened a month ago but the grand opening had to be delayed because Hernández was in the hospital for 26 days. Brunch entrees ($15-$22) include breakfast burritos, chilaquiles and huevos rancheros as well as a bacon jam burger and steak and eggs.Ī full bar will offer classic cocktails and sangria along with margaritas ($15) made with Herradura Silver tequila in classic or fruit flavors. The dinner menu includes starters such as nachos, wings and guacamole ($12-$15) combo plates and specialty dishes from Enchiladas Suizas to chile rellenos and carnitas ($15-$28) desserts ($10): a kids menu ($10) and vegan entrees ($14-$16). They were gifted to Hernández, who has performed with a long list of famous musicians of all genres including Selena, Vicente Fernández, Lola Beltrán, Juan Gabriel, Luis Miguel, Bryan Adams, Linda Ronstadt and the Beach Boys. Historical performance outfits worn by music legends José Alfredo Jimenez, Vicente Fernández, Amalia Mendoza, Jenni Rivera and Vikki Carr will be on display. Hungry?
